Wild Turkey Banquet

The Seventh Annual National Wild Turkey Federation Banquet will be held Friday, August 15 at the North Fork Lodge in McCall. Doors will open at 5pm with dinner at 7:15pm. More than 15 guns will be given away this year with "the gun of the year" being a 300 Weatherby Mag Deluxe. Yellow Pine Haprmonica Festival

Yellow Pine is preparing to host the 19th annual Harmonica Festival after a one-year hiatus caused by forest fires in 2007. The event is scheduled to run from Friday, August 1 to Sunday August 3 in Yellow Pine. Organizers say it is the second-largest event of its kind and draws harmoinica players of all skill levels. The Payette Lakes Community Association will sponsor youth kayaking and sand sculpture at North Beach on Thursday, July 24 from 10am till noon. Backwoods Adventure will gear kids up for summer fun with an instructional kayaking adventure specifically designed for youth. Benefit Yard Sale

A yard sale to be held during the Independence Day weekend will benefit a former McCall man, Jesse Cordts of Boise. The yard sale will be held Friday through Sunday July 4-6 at The Children's House Day Care Center at the corner of Thompson and Davis Avenues. The latest in a four-part free educational program that traces history and culture of the Pueblo people of the Southwest will be presented at 7pm Monday June 23 at the McCall Public Library. The free presentation will be given by Gordon McCall, a part-time resident of Valley County for 40 years. Viewers will learn the evolution of the Pueblo inhabitants and their culture from 500 AD to the mysterious abandonment of their villages and migration by 1300 A.D., and much more. Motorcycles Ride2Read

About 100 motorcyclists arrived at the McCall Public Library last Saturday as part of the annual Ride2Read fundraising event, which this year is benefiting the library. The motorcycles began arriving at about 1:30pm, and families were intited to view the bikes and have their pactures taken with the riders and "Frida the Fly." The McCall Arts and Humanities Council will host two showings of "Ibid" an independent film made in Idaho, on Saturday June 7. The showings will be held at 7pm and 9om at the movie theatre inside the Whitetail Club and Resort Lodge in McCall. Advance tickets are on sale for $7 at McCall Drug. "Ibid" was written and directed by Russell Friedenberg and stars Christian Campbell, who also appeared in "Reefer Madness" and "Trick." The movie is billed as a comedy in the tradition of such movie duos as Jake and Elwood Blues of "Blues Brothers" fame. The film is suitable for adults. Weiser River Trail Bicycle Rides

The Friends of Weiser River Trail is organizing three bicycle rides for Saturday, May 31. The rides will be 45 miles, 20 miles and 10 miles. Registration for riders is required to ensure adequate shuttle space and enough lunches. Forms are available on the trail website at www.weiserrivertrail.org. The ride is limited to the forst 100 registrants.

The McCall-Donnelly High School Drama and music department will jointly produce a spring musical, "Grease" by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, in six performances at the Alpine Playhouse. Performances begin at 7:30 on May 1-2. Ticket cost is $5 and go on sale at the high school office.

The Cascade Senior Citizen Center will hold its annual Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 26 from 10am to 4pm.
